I have used Seaham’s famous natural white sea glass to create a framed Dandelion Clock. Inspiration for this piece comes from my own personal love of Dandelion Clocks. Me and my brothers used to pick dandelions on the North Devon coast so that my Grandfather could make ‘Dandelion wine’. There are many folklore stories associated with the Dandelion. Wetting the bed after picking dandelions used to instil dread at bedtime following a day with ‘Pop-Pop’ as he was affectionately known. It is said that the number of breaths it takes to blow the seeds from a dandelion clock denotes the time of day in hours. However, my favourite is that if you blow the seeds of a dandelion clock it is said to carry your dreams and thoughts to a loved one.
